Milton Keynes, UK
From Antony StivalaLondon, UK

Milton Keynes Bowl, UKJuly 6th 1996
A local unsigned band called SEVEN opened up the show at 4pm and played
a good rocking set of entirely original material which was well received
by the crowd. They played for 30 minutes.
GUN were next up, coming on stage about 5pm. Despite being in the studio
recording their new album they showed no signs of being rusty and put up
a very good performance containing most of their hits: 'Don't Say It's
Over', 'Better Days', 'Seems Like I'm Losing You', 'Stand In Line',
'Something Worthwhile', 'Word Up', 'Steal Your Fire' and 'Shame On You'.
A second guitarist joined them onstage for the first few numbers but
then disappeared! Sadly though, the crowd didn't respond as well as I'd
expected to such a performance, although most seemed to know at least'Word Up'.
JOAN OSBOURNE took to the stage at about 6.20pm and played for an hour.
The set showed some promise at first and the crowd were quite
enthusiastic during the hits 'One Of Us' and 'St. Theresa' but towards
the end of the set they became quite restless as a certain element of
boredom set in.
BON JOVI took to the stage at 8pm amidst a cascade of fireworks and
proceeded to play the finest set I have ever witnessed. Virtually every
hit was there with an excellent mix of old classics and crowd pleasers
and new songs from 'These Days'. A particular highlight for me was the
pairing of two of my favourites at the start of the first encore: '(It's
Hard)Letting You Go' and 'Something To Believe In'. The stage show was
the best I've ever seen with the usual excellent lighting and fireworks
and the 'Rock and Roll Circus' theme adding a real sense of occasion.
The band were much more relaxed than I've ever seen them before and
showing obvious appreciation of the amazing response from the crowd,
particularly as they left the stage at 10.45pm. Anyway, here's the
setlist from the show, hopefully in the correct order!
