LONDON (AFP) — US rockers Bon Jovi will headline the 2007 Royal Variety Performance gala evening, with Queen Elizabeth II in the audience, organisers announced Tuesday.

The show will take place in December at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool, north-west England. Singers Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Enrique Iglesias, James Blunt and Katherine Jenkins will also perform by royal command.

The Royal Variety Performance is staged in aid of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund of which Queen Elizabeth is patron. She and her husband Prince Philip will attend the show.

The decision to stage it in Liverpool continues the recently-established tradition of holding the show outside London. Previous host cities include Cardiff, Edinburgh and Birmingham.

Co-host Kate Thornton said: "It's a British institution that unites some of the biggest acts in the world for one night only."
