Bon Jovi brought rock 'n' roll back to Central Park Saturday night with a high-octane freebie concert in front of tens of thousands of crazed fans.
A deafening roar filled the Great Lawn as the Grammy Award-winning rockers led by Jon Bon Jovi took the stage before a sea of rapturous concertgoers.
"It's a free show in this legendary area of New York," said die-hard fan Sheri Black Velvet, who flew in from the United Kingdom yesterday to see her rock idols perform for the 230th time.
"To see him in concert here is more special than any show I've ever seen."
Dozens of fans spent the night outside the park to snag coveted spots on the lawn.
Kristen Kelly, 21, arrived bleary-eyed at 4 a.m. with her boyfriend, Bobby Aanonsen. She was glad she did - though getting a prime location on the lawn after the crowd was let in at 2:30 p.m. had its consequences.
"We literally ran in order to be at the front," said Kelly, a recent college grad from Flushing, Queens. "It was a mad dash and I lost my flip-flops."
Aanonsen, 21, surveyed the throbbing crowd packed into the park and smiled in delight.
