Bon Jovi are the latest band to join Simon Cowell’s charity single to aid the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
Simon announced he was persuading an all-star cast to record a cover of REM’s sombre ballad Everybody Hurts last week, with all proceeds from the record being donated to help those affected by the natural disaster.
Big names including Leona Lewis, Michael Buble, Robbie Williams, Take That, Rod Stewart, Westlife and Kylie Minogue have already confirmed they will be taking part. Bon Jovi have now announced they will also be recording vocals for the track, which will hit stores on February 7.
BRIT Awards bosses are said to be holding discussions to incorporate the song into the ceremony, which will take place on February 16 at London’s Earls Court Arena. An emergency meeting has already been held to work how best to showcase the song, with organisers considering asking all the musicians to perform it live.
“A special production meeting was called to reconsider the running order to include the song,” a source said, “It’s something that has never happened before. But the events in Haiti have made everybody sit up and listen.”
