Call Jon Bon Jovi the king of the beach.
The New Jersey icon delivered an upbeat close to the Bamboozle Festival’s ten-year homecoming Sunday night on the beach in Asbury Park.
Bon Jovi, after a video introduction, came onstage to perform “Raise Your Hands,” which was set off by a sizzling guitar riff by Woodbridge native Richie Sambora.
“Are you listening out there?” Bon Jovi, a native of Sayreville, asked the crowd, which responded with only screams.
That exchange led to a rendition of their hit “You Give Love a Bad Name,” followed by “Born to be My Baby” and “We Weren’t Born to Follow.”
Bon Jovi’s Bamboozle gig was the first Asbury Park performance in 12 years by arena rock stalwarts: Bon Jovi, Sambora, David Bryan, keyboards, an Edison native who now lives in Colts Neck; and Tico Torres, drums, formerly of Woodbridge.
