Salt Lake City Concert Review Deseret News
BON JOVI and SR-71 in concert at the Delta Center on April 28, 7:30 p.m.; one performance only.
Bon Jovi couldn't have put it better when his band played the anthemic "Older."
Singer Jon Bon Jovi, guitarist Richie Sambora, drummer Tico Torres, bassist Hugh McDonald and keyboardist David Bryan might have aged a bit, but the audience, which apparently grew up listening to the band's music throughout the decades, loved every bit of the concert Saturday night.
Bon Jovi hadn't been to Salt Lake City for about five years. But when the group went on stage, it was as if time stood still.
The stage, which was modeled after a New Jersey rooftop, was flanked by two video screens and featured a huge screen as a backdrop. The audience was able to see the band members close up and also view bits and pieces of videos from the songs played.
Those songs included "It's My Life," "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night" and "Blaze of Glory."
The band was tight and the sound mix in the Delta Center was crystal clear.
"Keep the Faith," "In These Arms," "Born to Be My Baby" and a new one, "Mystery Train," had the audience up and roaring along with the lyrics.
