Bon Jovi energizes WZPL's 'Sam Jam'
By David Lindquist
The United States is the only country in the world that could foster the sugary and dramatic hard rock of Bon Jovi.
The 1980s hit machine charged through a comeback performance Monday night at Deer Creek Music Center, where more than 14,000 concertgoers attended the "Uncle Sam Jam" festival.
Bon Jovi began its hourlong set with oldies Livin' On a Prayer and You Give Love a Bad Name, a double whammy that sent a previously lethargic crowd into a fist-pumping frenzy.
Despite being a shameless ham who borrows a lot of moves from fellow Jersey guy Bruce Springsteen, vocalist Jon Bon Jovi has an awe-inspiring charisma when placed in front of a live audience.
