Last year Bon Jovi released the acoustic cd ‘This Left Feels Right’, on which the band abandoned their electrified instruments in favor of more pure sounding equipment. One of the definite highlights of that cd was the new version of the song ‘Its My Life’. It was to be expected that it would appear on a single sooner or later.
Four years ago, the song ‘Its My Life’ represented an uptempo rockanthem that kickstarted a rather memorable Summer for Bon Jovi and its fans. The classic song, with its trademark powerchords and vocals, soon took the world by storm, up until the moment when there was not a single person in the western world who had not at least heard it at least once. This time around, however, the song is an introspective ballad. And a really good one at that. I have to give the band my props for being able to strip a song of just about everything that made it such a memorable track in the first place, and still make it work.
