American Music Awards to honor Bon Jovi |

Show to be televised by ABC
Bon Jovi will receive the American Music Awards Award of merit, producers of the awards show announced Monday.
The band with hits including Wanted Dead or Alive and It's My Life, will be honored at the 32nd annual American Music Awards in Los Angeles on Nov. 14. The band will perform live on the show, to be televised by ABC.
The Award of Merit -- previously presented to such artists as Johnny Cash, Ella Fitzgerald, Chuck Berry, Loretta Lynn, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel and Janet Jackson -- is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the musical entertainment of the American public.
Since 1984, sales of Bon Jovi albums -- including solo albums by members of the band -- have totaled more than 100 million copies. Bon Jovi has played more than 2,500 concerts in 50 countries before more than 32 million fans.
The American Music awards honor comes two days before the release of the CD box-set 100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong... .
Usher leads the field with four nominations for this year's American Music Awards.
