"One Wild Night: Live 1985-2001" Review 7 June 2001
give the band some credit...

A review by whoaaa whoaaaaa

well, after all those years of wishing and hoping for a bon jovi live album, our boys give us the rather commercial one wild night live 1985 - 2001. Al the usual hits are here including covers of 'i dont like mondays' which really is useless, and rockin in the free world, which is a great cover version, and is well worth its place on the cd. Many people have discarded the choices of songs like the 'runaway' and 'in and out of love', but this is a live cd for everyone who is a bon jovi fan, not just the hardcore following. Jon said he wanted to 'show all the new fans that their are 8 other albums out there'...so putting such songs from oder material is fair enough if only htis didnt sound like a sub version of crossroads...i undertsand wot the band are trying to achieve here, but they look like they are trying to rip off their fans...everyone say sthey should have put his and that, which is fair enough, but this is a live album for everyoen, not you , me, or my next door neigbours' dog, but everyone, bon jovi are not a cult band, they rae one of the worlds biggest, actually right now, they are the biggest band on the planet, and their recent record 'crush' brought in newer fans, so why not educate them? ok, here is my breif analysis of the songs

its my life - greta song, good live version, not as much engery as other performances but still a greta rocker 8/10

living on a prayer - this is good live version, either htough, again, they have done so much better with this, but u cant fault their performance at all 8/10

you give love a bad name - brilliant live version, totally rocks the house down, and brings the fans screaming and singing along with evry word, a real stormer which make picks up the pace on the album 9/10

keep the faith - a good and well rocked version either htough hugh mcdonald on the bass doesnt produce enough bite in the beginning at all. to this day, i believe his contribution isnt not a patch on alec john such. 7/10

rockin in the free world - brilliant cover version, whihc i so hope to hear live, cracking solo too, worth its place on any live album. 9/10

something to believe in - i bought htis cd fo rthis sng, and so alot of my hopes were retsing on tis osng, never herad a live verison of this ever, so i hoped and prayed for the best...and thats wot i got, its th ebets track on theis album...ist so powerful and the ending, 'for those hwo believ ,say hey hey hey'....is so so very reflective and heartwarming....truely special and emotional..10/10

wanted dead or alive - great great perormance, with nice acoustic intro form our richie...either though slightly dissapointed for the solo not to be as crunching as previous acts... 8/10

runaway - the song whihc set the ball rolling all thos emany many years ago returns, and its brillaint, fast paced, riviting solo, keeps the head banging all the way, one of the best on he album - 9/10

in and out of love - just liek crossroads, i dont see any point putting this song from 7800'....but still, it rocks well enough.... 7/10

i dont like mondays - greta for a concert, pathetic for a bon jovi album. its nice, but, not wot is required in thsi outing at all 5/10

just older - a great song, which has been given a great performance by the boyz, either htough its a pity that jon's speech was edited off... 8/10

something for the pain - one of my favourite form the these days contingent. im surprised but very appreciative of this, its a superb song and a even better liev verison, hats off to the boyz for this one. 9/10

bad medicine - a greta song to end the album with, but not the greatest version...a pretty average one really...kind of completes my viewpoint of thsi album... 7/10

and for some reason, we have the one wild night single on here....all i can sya is 'EH?'...even sillier is the fact they put its from canada, as a live version 'doh!!'

well, thats my view on the songs listed, and well, if i was producer of this album, hehe, i would be outraged, where on earth is blood on blood, lay your hands on me, dry county, il sleep when im dead???????....secondly, no ballads are here.....hm....whihc is ok, if the album wasnt so average....sighhhhhh....also my all time favourite wild is the wind, where has that gone to? ok,well here is my personal live album:

its my life
living on a prayer
dry county
ill sleep when im dead
wild is the wind
wanted dead or alive
something to belive in
rockin in the free world
these days
always
bed of roses
thank you for loving me
blood on blood
in these arms
lay your hands on me
next 100 years

ive missed a few songs out, but this is my setlist.....anywayz, see u all later
