"One Wild Night: Live 1985-2001" Review 8 June 2001
OWN REVIEW

A review by Baboon / hoodlooms@hotmail.com

OK. So I bought my CD expecting it to be one of the best BJ albums ever, but when I listened it I got rather
dissapointed, `cause I mean Bon Jovi is the best band in the world, and everyone knows they sound better
live.

I mean this CD is not all bad, they have good songs, and one song that I dont understand what is doin
in there, well make it two: I dont like mondays, and the studio version of OWN.

Considering how good the band is, and how many great songs ther have, I think they could have done
better than this, if they really wanted to show new fans, how great their other 8 alnums are, they
should have given the best of each one, I mean theres only one song of one of their best albums
New Jersey, where is Lay your hands on me? (maybe the most upbeat song of BJ), where is Blood on
Blood?. I know how great the band sounds live, they should have done better.

Another thing, if you have been to a BJ concert, you can feel how great is Jon dealing with the fans,
I mean, the way he makes us interact with them, and making us a part of the band, I think is the best
feeling you can have, and this album, has a certain coldness in that area, they should have gotten into
the album some of Jons speeches.

I liked the album, but it wasnt as good as I hoped. Im gonna give a little thought of each song in this
album.

Its my life: A good way to start the album, definetly sounds better live than the studio version. 8/10

Livin on a prayer: I mean one of the greatest of BJ, and has evolved to sound better. 9/10

Bad name: A great intro, the prayer-bad name formula works as a charm. This songs rocks, and makes you want to stand up and rock with them. 10/10

Keep the faith: I like the song pretty much, but I dont think this is the best version of it. The intro is somehow not strong enough. 8/10

Saturday night: I love the intro, how it starts slow. It sounds better than the studio version, and is one of the best ones in the cd. 10/10

Rockin in the free world: I never heard the song before, and I liked it, eventhough, I would have prefered to have one of BJ songs, maybe Lay your hands on me? 8/10

Something to beleive in: Definetly makes the CD worth it, I buyed the album for this song, the lyrics are strong, and it sounds just brilliant live. This one shows the new fans what is BJ made of. 10/10

Dead or Alive: A great intro from Richie, but the solo doesnt sound as fine as it is, they could have done much better than this. 8/10

Runaway: The first hit from BJ, the song that starts it all, it had to be in the album, I dont understand how can the question that. It sounds good...but... 8/10

In and out of love: A good song they could have done without, but they have to put something of Fahrenheit (but what about Tokyo Road). 7/10

Dont like mondays: What is this song doin in here, thats what I first thought, I mean there are a whole bunch of other songs, great songs, even better covers. But hey...who am I to make decisions, right? 4/10

Just Older: Its a blame they didnt put Jons speech at the beginning, but it sounds good. 8/10

Something for the pain: A great song, but they could have done better, specially with this one. 9/10

Bad medicine: Hmmm....I wanted more from a song so good as this one...... 8/10

OWN 2001: Better than the original, but yet...... 8/10

I think if the bad really wanted the new fans to know what they are made of, the should have putten better songs, `cause as i say before, where are, lay your hands on me, dry county (which for a lot of people is one of the greatest BJ ever, I mean the solo is just incredible), and where are the ballads, ill be there for you, blood on blood...

Eventhough, the album was good, I just cant wait for the next one to come out...

Rating: 8/10
