"One Wild Night: Live 1985-2001" Review 10 June 2001
A great review, but is it a great album.......?

A review by Rob / robgreen01@email.com

Ok first of all I think that this album has some great songs on it, however I am not happy by the fact that the tracks have been recorded in different places at different times. My idea of a live album is one were they record a live performance. Below is a review of the album track by track.

It's My Life - Pretty good but lacks the same power and energy that the single had when it came out. 9/10

Livin' On A Prayer - I think most rock bands would have a job trying to make a mess of this track, unless you're me of coures (just a wannabe player). Great sounds, great lyrics and even better story. 9.5/10

You Give Love A Bad Name - I like the start of this because Prayer and Bad Name had been played straight after each other in the same show. I wish all the album was like that. 9/10

Keep The Faith - A good version of Faith. This is and probably always be my favourate track from Bon Jovi - apart from Blaze Of Golry, though I don't think that counts. 10/10

Someday I'll Be Saturday Night - Wow, wow, wow......what a great version. I thought this was one of the weaker tracks on crossroad but on this albums it's one of the best. 9.5/10

Rockin' In The Free World - Now this a pretty good, but as far as I'm concerned Bon Jovi have never realised a cover track on one of their albums, so why do it now. 6/10

Something To Believe In - Good version but I don't particulary like the song. Why not put Dry County or This Ain't A Love Song here. 6.5/10

Wanted Dead Or Alive - Yeah sounds great as ever - nuff said! 9/10

Runaway - One of my favourates and is great here too. I like the start of the song where there is random bits of guitar - if you know what I mean. 8.5/10

In And Out Love - I wondered what this was the first time I listened to it, until the more familiar beat kicked in. I real craker as far as I'm concerned. 8.5/10

I Don't Like Mondays - Good but I don't really understand why this song was on this album. 8.5 for the song but should be on here so 6/10.

Just Older - Good song but I'm not too fond of it on this album, I don't know why really. 7/10

Something For The Pain - Great song, but I have another version of this live and it is nowhere near as good as that one. 7.5/10

Bad Medicine - What is this - It isn't Bon Jovi, at least I don't think it is, in fact it's barely Bad Medicine. When Jon shouted "DO YOU SEE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE!?", I thought "Oh yes, we're in for a craker here.", but we weren't. 5/10

One Wild Night - I don't know why people don't like this because I do. I like the background sounds in the chorus. 8/10

Well as you already know I am disappointed with this album. I think the boys should have played live and recorded the album that way. I don't like the fading of the crowd at the end of each track too. I think they can do better than this. If you want a good live album then I suggest you listen to one called Alchemy by Dire Straits - Ok so who are they, why don't you get the album and find out, it's immmense!

So the same question arises as it did with the last few Bon Jovi albums. Is this the end of Bon Jovi...........I think not!

Rating: 8/10
