Religious Experience
I've seen Bon Jovi in concert four times in a ten year span, and they rocked as hard last night as they did ten years ago. It was their second show in as many nights, and they've been on tour how long? So, I thought the band's energy level was a bit low, but the music itself *rocked*. The sound was LOUD and not distorted or uneven at all; the instruments didn't drown out the vocals or vice versa which can be problematic at an outdoor arena. The set list included hits from each release as well as some less likely tunes like "Wild is the Wind" and "I Got the Girl". The crowd interaction was actually minimal, but for those of us there for the music, we weren't disappointed. The band seemed to genuinely enjoy themselves and the crowd fed off of that. Jon's voice hasn't suffered from the years of touring and he & Richie's harmony on "Wanted Dead or Alive" was nearly perfect. Also, Richie's performance of a song off of his solo project was a nice surprise. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't perform "Something for the Pain" and "Thank You"; the problem with Bon Jovi is that they just have too many great songs to play them all in one concert, I guess. All in all, I'd spend the money to see them again in a heartbeat.
