Same setlist both nights?? A review w/ thoughts for the next tour.
Despite the fact that the energy was there both nights, I was disappointed that I had to sit through the same setlist twice. Would've loved to have heard the stuff they were doing at the beginning of the tour, namely: "Wild Is The Wind" and particularly "In These Arms". "Homebound Train" was another that made several appearances on the tour, but never seems to make any homecoming appearances. I can't believe I paid $85 to sit through "I Got The Girl" both nights... Even if it is really sweet that he wrote it for his daughter. I paid for both nights because I hoped the shows would complement each other. Well I was mistaken and I was disappointed. Setlist wise, Grand Rapids Michigan got treated to the best show of the tour, and four of the songs that night didn't make it to either Giants Stadium show. That's a shame since everyone I polled was at both NJ shows. I think we got screwed by the fact that VH1 sponsored the thing, and therefore the band played the same set both nights so they'd have more editting material to work with. That was a waste since they only seemed to air Saturday Night's Show anyhow. Let's face the long overdue truth that it's time to retire "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead", "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night" and "Blaze of Glory". I think the only song I was glad they played both nights was "Raise Your Hands". That's such a great live song and has been missing for years. I'd love to hear "99 In The Shade" once in a while too... Maybe in place of the exhausted "Wild In The Streets". Let's hope next time around "The Joves" get it right. I've seen them in concert 13 times now and have still never heard "In These Arms". They played it every night the first half of the tour... FRUSTRATING!!
