19 June 2001 - Paris, France Concert Review 28 August 2001
Awesome

A review by J-F / jffonthenet@yahoo.fr

Follow my advice: do not stand in the front row ever! For safety reasons! I'm kidding of course, but the French audience was wild! People from behind pushed me against the railings, a crazy girl kept on screaming into my left ear...
But it was so great. It was my second Bon Jovi concert, I went to Ostend last year. These two concerts were different. Belgian people are calm and quiet as compared to the French! In Belgium, the setlist essentially promoted Crush. Got a girl, Just older and OWN did rock the audience. In Paris, everyone had the pleasure to enjoy classic songs. Always, Livin', Born to be my baby..., 17000 people chanted with Jon... Anyway, I did have much fun in Ostend, though the perfomance in Paris was better. Let's say that I could move my arms and legs in Ostend. Great fireworks. And Jon did look proud of his job. I remember his talking with the crowd about his movie career. There was something in the air that linked the band and the audience. It was a kind of bet in Paris. The band is not so popular here in France, but they succeed in filling the largest French hall concert. They couldn't have rocked the Stade de France... We, but I don't, prefer Céline Dion or Johnny Hallyday. Sigh.

Anyway, I did have a great time in Paris. Thanks for performing Always and These days, the best song of yours. As in many of their concerts, not many songs from the These days album. I wish they would have played Hey God, Bitter Wine, something for the pain and the mythical Something to believe in. Next time maybe.
I'm waiting for the new album, and I'll be in the front row next time they're back on stage.
Congratulations to Richie, he plays so well.
