10 June 2001 - Dublin, Ireland Concert Review 16 October 2001
Come Back

A review by Leah Rose / pantene6@hotmail.com

Well tis five months later and i can still remember everything that happened at my first concert ever!

I was up at 8am on Sunday morning getting ready to go see Bon Jovi, Woo Hoo :) Bri arrived at about 9.15 and we started to head off at around 9.30am. We arrived at Bewleys at about 1.30 pm which was good i think, four hours wasn't bad, and we stopped off for breakfast on the way and we were held up going into Kildare with all the traffic so four hours was good. Anyways when we got to Bewleys we couldnt book in until 2.00 so we had to wait for half hour.

We set off to the RDS at about 3.15/3.30 we got a little lost looking for ballsbridge but we found it eventually and arrived at the RDS at 4.20. The que was fairly long, we were at the end of it but then more people started arriving after that. Then at round five the que started moving and a guy...a steward came up to the people in front of us and told all of us at the back of the que to turn around and go in another door. Woo hoo! So then, there weren't that many people in front of us so we got up near the front which was sooooooo good! So we went for a bit of a wander round, the offical stands were packed! t-shirts were £20, bandanas were £20, programs £10, everything way expensive i really regretted not getting a bandana outside for £4.50 and they were excatly the same as the offical ones, cest le vie, we went back over then to the stage, we got a place right in the middle about half way down and i could see the stage perfectly, YAY!!

First band on were called Delirous....they came on at just before 6.00, i didnt really like them at all and was bored! Then at about 6.30 Matchbox 20 came on. They were brilliant!! I went out to buy their Album afterwords and i wasnt dissapointed! And i will defintely try to see them again! They finished up at about 7.30, then people started getting the stage ready for Bon Jovi.

The stage was brilliant, they had it all done up so it looked like the empire state building, i was going so mad that i didnt bring a camera, so many people had cameras in there it was frustrating knowing i could have brought one. I thought Bon Jovi would have come on at 8.00 so did everyone else. The giant screen kept flickering on and off. Then the video for the start of one wild night started playing and the camera showed Bon Jovi i thought it was just a video of them but it wasn't it was them live there and then, everyone started screaming and the doors opened and there they were :)

I had the best three hours of my life, yup they played for a full three hours, including two encores. It was soooooo brilliant, they played loads and loads of songs, old and new, 'Living on a prayer', 'i'll be there for you', 'its my life', 'blood on blood', 'Just Older', 'I got the Girl' His daughter came on stage while he was singing this one :), 'Blaze of glory', 'bad medicine', 'lay ur hands on me', 'keep the faith', 'Someday i'll be saturday night', 'Something for the pain', 'Captain crash and the beauty queen from mars', 'Bed of roses', 'Born to be my baby, 'Wild in the streets'.

They started off singing 'one wild night', then 'raise ur hands' then 'you give love a bad name'. My favourite favourite one they sang was 'Wanted' I love that song so much, they sang it as one of the encore songs. They started playing the music and everyone started singing it just before he started so we all sang the first verse and chorus and then he joined in, i loved it! For some of the songs fireworks went off and a good few of them went off after the first encore. I could see Bon Jovi for most of the concert, when the girl in front of me kept her big head out of my way :) But it was ok cos i saw everything on the big screens. They were absolutly brilliant! i am defintly going to see them again, i really really hope they come back!!!! They videod the whole show too :) Im so so so glad i got the chance to see them :) It really was brilliant i loved it all :)

Afterwords my feet were killing me and i had a pain in my head but it was so worth it i wanna go see them again!! lol! Me and Bri went for some food and then back to hotel to eat it. It took us a while to get back to Bewleys after coming out of the RDs cos there were police and they were directing everyone in one direction so we didnt know where we were going but we found our way back!

I totally had the best night of my life, even if it was only for three hours it was soooooo worth that £32.00 or whatever it cost. :) And i want them to come back so badly! Come Back Bon Jovi!!!!!!
