8 February 2003 - University Park, PA, USA Concert Review 23 February 2003
Raise Your Hands

A review by First Mate Kidd / fmkidd@yahoo.com

As usual BON JOVI KICKED A$$. They were loud and it was the big rock show. To anyone who wasnt there, well you missed one hell of a show, integrating satelite dish screens, lasers, excellent lighting, a very loud crowd, some interesting displays on the big screens (especially during Bad Medicine, you had to be there), to some of the best songs ever written amplified to blow out your ears, get the noice level so high some people in NYC woke up or maybe even make you pass out. They did classics and many new songs. "Bounce", "Prayer", "Its My Life", "Runaway" and many more were just incredible. However, there is always room for improvement. I will never understand why they do covers, the 65 bucks wasnt paid to hear David Bowie songs, I wanna hear the Jersey rock that I grew up with, that blew me away and still continues to do so. Why even do the "In These Arms" thing when they can do "The Distance" or "Keep The Faith" (their best concert song in my opinion). Who knows, and maybe who am I to question the guy thats about to reach the 100 million mark in record sales and sold out every show he's ever done. So raise your hands to a the best band in the world doing one of their trademark "I got my money's worth, coolest experiences ever, lost my hearing in a good way, kick a$$" rock shows, with a new twist: Cameras!!! Was a great birthday party too.
