23 February 2003 - Atlantic City, NJ, USA Concert Review 24 February 2003
Bon Jovi on the Boardwalk

A review by BonJovi4ever / jaxinnj@yahoo.com

I have to start off by saying that it didn't live up to the concert in the Meadowlands but I knew that it wouldn't. It was a smaller venue and the sound wasn't the greatest but they still put on an awesome show.

It was a great feeling to know that we were seeing Bon Jovi in NJ down the shore right on the boardwalk. The crowd was good but just didn't live up to the people at the CAA show. I know that I shouldn't compare with a smaller place like Boardwalk Hall but to me the Feb. 11 show was the best one I have been to, so far.

The set list has somewhat stayed the same with some tracks taken away. It's hard to remember the order of the setlist but I am damn sure this is it in order:

Bounce
You Give Love A Bad Name
Wild In the Streets
Livin' On A Prayer
Everyday
Undivided
Runaway
Just Older
Wanted Dead Or Alive
The Distance
It's My Life
Misunderstood
Right Side Of Wrong
I'll Be There For You
Hook Me Up
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
Raise Your Hands
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
Born To Be My Baby

Encore:
In These Arms
Bad Medicine
Shout
Rock 'N Roll Music
Twist And Shout

Before the band performed The Distance they talked about it being the next single. Before Misunderstood they said that this is our current single. I think that either AALY was made a video for Europe or just an extra video for an upcoming video collection (haven't had one of those in like ten years).

I was really excited when they came back from the encore and did In These Arms but was really disappointed by the performance. I don't think Jon really put a lot behind it. He didn't even do the screaming "BABY" before the last chorus and at the end. I have never been upset by a song performed by the band but if he sings it like that again, I never wanna hear that live. Rock 'N Roll Music was really cool to hear and the crowd always gets into Twist and Shout. I wish they would stop performing that one though but it does get the crowd into it.

My low point of course was the performance of In These Arms. The high points were the crowd reaction to Runaway. They really jumped out of their chairs for that one and were into it. Took me by surprise. Undivided is always great to hear live. Hopefully they continue to do it after this tour like they have been doing with Just Older. Something to look forward to in my opinion is Born To Be My Baby. It's not just a song they seem to sing anymore, such as Everyday, but they do more with it now.

I know the show in Philly will be an awesome one. They always put on a great show there. Hopefully I'll see some of you there and have an even better post :)
