It was a HOT Friday night in Ft. Lauderdale!!! Packed house, and the crowd was ready. A good show by the Goo Goo Dolls preceded and then........ the boys hit the stage and the crowd "Bounced" right along with them. My seat was on the side of the stage about 10 rows up and the experience was in a word..AWESOME. Being from Jersey and a transplanted Floridian, this was one of the better shows I've seen. 6th time, 3rd in Florida. Except for the Slippery When Wet tour that I was lucky enough to have seen when I was 17, the energy of this show was amped all night. This show was a little more rockin' than the Crush tour, as the lack of ballads played proved. And although Richie stole the show with I'll Be There For You, Jon continues to prove that he is the quintessential rock frontman (with maybe only Steven Tyler as his contempory equal) with unabashed energy and and unwaivering voice and true rock spirit. Also, for anyone at the show who didn't have the vantage point I did, "Miami" Steve Van Zandt, Little Steven (E Street Band-Soprano's fame), was in attendance and at the side of the stage and grooved along to many of the boys songs (when not being asked for photos or autographs) Only dissapointment was he didn't join them onstage. Can't wait to see the boys back again and from a fan from the beginning (The Uncle Floyd Show, local Jersey programming in the early '80's, was Jon's first televised appearance and my introduction) to today, their music and the loyalty of their fan's just shows that hard work and talent go a long way.
