14 March 2003 - Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA Concert Review 23 March 2003
Happy Birthday to Me....(thanks guys)

A review by Jennifer

OHHHHH MYYYYY GOSHHHHHH !!!!! What a show!!! The energy of the band on stage and the fans in the crowd just EXPLODED into an amazing display of Rock and Roll perfection. As a long time fan (since the first time I heard Never Say Goodbye in 6th grade) I've known that they had something special, something timeless, and something orginal. This was the third time I'd seen the band live, and it was on my 29th birthday. They rocked the first time I saw them (on the Keep the Faith tour) and they've just gotten better every time. One of the things that stands out at a Bon Jovi concert is the idea that they're truly having fun on stage and the fans feed off that vibe and give it right back. It's like they're having a party and we're all invited. "Bounce" kick-started the night in high gear. "Undivided" was truly an inspiration. "Just Older" was amazing (and my new theme song). Richie blew us all away with his lead on "I'll Be There for You". I have to admit, I was a little disappointed at first when Jon said Richie was going to do that song, It's one I look forward to each show, but Richie sang away all my fears. By the time they did "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" we were all ready for the concert to last all night, the electricity in the crowd was tangable. "Eve of Distuction" in the encore was equally touching and rousing. The concert ended with "Twist and Shout" and we all did just that. Jon was dancing and singing like it was the last song he would ever sing, he gave it all he had and the rest of the band did too. With that kind of dedication on stage, all we could do in the crowd was join in and drain ourselves right along with them. It's the connection that Bon Jovi fans have with each other and with the band that makes the shows the history making events that they are. They're legendary, they're ground-breaking, they're the past and the future of Rock and Roll, and they're the best birthday present I could get.
