30 May 2003 - Gelsenkirchen, Germany Concert Review 1 June 2003
A fantastic show!!

A review by Manuela / ela-angel@gmx.de

Hi @ all!!

Today it is the 6/01/2003. So, two days ago I was in Gelsenkirchen! I just wanted to give you my impressions of this day!
First I have to say, that I had a very bad place. I stood at the other side of the stadium and I only could see the band as small points on the stage. But I was so happy and thankful for the screen. :-) I realised that Jon was/is ill. And yesterday I heard that is's really bad. I hope he feels better in a few days! I guess you know that he was short before a pneumonia!! So he had to take care of himself and did a little bit less than we know it from him. But so we got to hear some fantastic solo acts from Tico, Richie and David!!
I was a little bit disapointed that you only played 7 new songs and not "these days" like some gigs before. The lightshow and everything else was breathtaking. I must confess that I never heard such a fantastic liveact on a keyboard, David gave to his best. But the time he played I felt so wonderful, beloved and peaceful! So, the solo parts were very good! And I was very happy, that richie sang "I'll be there for you". It was nearly so like beeing on a concert from himself.
But there is one thing I can not understand. The first band starts so late. On the tickets it was said, that they start at 6 pm and you nearly one and an half hour later. They started at half past seven and Bon Jovi at nine. You have to see, we stood outside since 10 am or earlier and inside since nearly 4 pm. It was a very long time though it worth! It started getting dark outside and so the lights were very impressing.
For me the mood yesterday was very good. I don't know how the band found it, but I guess it was very good. Very much exceptionally was "in these arms" with all the lights and "living on a prayer" where Jon actual had nothing to do and could treat his voice, because all the fans sang on their own. Something like that gives me the creeps! You could feel the good vibrations in the public. Everybody sang, clapped his hands and had lots of fun! It was the best day since the one in june two years ago, in Cologne "one wild night tour" and the second best in my life!! I only can say, that you can not descripe it. You have to see and feel it!!
I hope you all enjoyed the show and will have lots of fun the next days!! I'm looking forward to see Jon, David, Richie and Tico as soon as possible!!
And for the gys I wish all the best and I hope they will survive the tour without problems and healthy!! I love you!
bye manuela
