20 June 2003 - Dublin, Ireland Concert Review 25 June 2003
Did anyone else see Arnie in Ireland?

A review by Ash

Friday nite in Dublin...I have to say the atmosphere wasn't that great from the stands. We were sitting down initially and everyone around us was dead quite and didn't appear to be in the mood for this gig. After about 4 songs we decided to blag our way into the standing area where people seemed to be having much more fun. On route the crowd near us suddenly errupted as Arnold Schwarzenegger (is that how you spell his name?) came into the stands. Nobody could quite believe it and people were grabbing their cameras to take a photo of him. I have to say although it was great seeing him, the mood of the show seemed to get worse as everyone's attention turned to him rather than the boys on stage. Anyhow after about ten minutes we got a good place standing and Bon Jovi played 'In these Arms' which I hadn't heard live before and this seemed to get everyone going.

We were fortunate enough to then meet a young member of the Tour Crew (thank you sir!) who gave us tickets to go on stage (anyone in Group no4?) and we also saw the rest of the show from the front. Totally amazing. Up on stage I was able to give Jon a pat on the back when he came over to us, and Richie was like 5 feet away...

I have to say that once the sun went done the atmosphere got better and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.

Great songs - Diamond ring, These Days, Richie singing I'll be there for you (why doesn't he sing more often?) and great touches like Shout and Twist and Shout!

Off to Hyde Park on Saturday next as we missed most of the show totally star struck at being sent to the front with all the production crew etc!

Long live rock 'n' roll.
