24 June 2003 - Wolverhampton, UK Concert Review 25 June 2003
Bouncing all the way to heaven!!!!

A review by JON4EVA / jon4eva@jovimail.com

Right, I’m trying to find time to right this up in lessons before I forget everything lol! I had such an awwwwwwwesome amazing time it was unbelievable!!!! :D It was my third concert (the first two being Cardiff, and capital fm in Wembley) and as amazing as the first two were, I enjoyed this one the most. IMHO it was the greatest Bon Jovi concert ever!!! :D
So, the day began and I had to go to school :( I was sooo excited but I still had to go to my morning lessons (in which I had to a presentation which I hate doing!) but I managed to survive school (with the help of my jovi buddies on the internet keeping me sane ;) ) I went home, had lunch and made sure I had banner/camera/binoculars/tickets etc. and finally left the house at 3 with my whole family (all dressed up very cute in BJ tshirts – I was so proud of them :D ). Once we managed to get there I have to say the organisation was pretty poor, maybe it was just because we got there late, but there was no parking at all, I was just amazingly lucky that there was a space left in the pub right next to the stadium!!! I was soo excited!! I couldn’t believe we were actually here!!! I went straight to the merchandise stand and bought a programme, a tshirt and some badges. The programme was lovvvvvvvely :) :) We joined the queue at 5 and I bought the express and star while I was waiting. They had an 8 page special – the pictures were great but some of the writing was a load of b*ll*cks. Apparently wolves is the last gig in the UK (so London and Manchester have moved to Switzerland obviously) and they had a page with profiles of each band member, and for Richie’s profile they had a pic of Jon! Anyway we managed to get to our seats about 5.40. I was shocked!!!! The seats were reeeally good! As it was a stadium I expected we would be really far from the stage but we were actually really close and I was VERY happy!!! :D
Live came on stage about 6.40, they were quite good although I didn’t know many of their songs. They played Dolphin’s Cry , and I Alone, those are all the ones I can remember. I couldn’t look at them very much though as the sun was in my eyes lol! After they left we started doing Mexican waves around the stadium – it was so fun!! :D I love Mexican waves and I was really enthusiastic until I managed to poke the guy sitting behind me in the eye lol! The atmosphere was amazing!! This was my first open air concert and the air was just buzzing with electricity :)
Then finally – the moment came – and Bon Jovi came on stage!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D I couldn’t believe they were really there!!! :) After all this time they were here! I went so psycho happy that my memory of everything is very blurred, so I’m sorry if some of this is wrong or in the wrong order lol! I spent the whole night jumping non stop, as well as singing and screaming like hell!! Everyone around me was laughing at me but I don’t care – I was having the time of my life!!!
As I remember Jon was wearing yyyyummy tight jeans and a gorgeous light blue shirt showing his chest ;) Richie wore a long coat and looked very beautiful too, as did all the guys, Huey wore a blue shirt and jeans as well, Tico wore a black tshirt, and David a patterned shirt (again I’m sorry if this is wrong I wasn’t paying that much attention to their clothes). The stage also looked fabulous, If you don’t want me to spoil it for you if you haven’t seen it don’t read the next sentence! The scenery was divided into alternating horizontal strips which changed from things like fire, stars, swirls etc, and there were 6 smaller screens which moved around to change shape. It was AWESOME!!!
They started off with Bounce as usual, the set list was:

Bounce
You give love a bad name
Runaway
Everyday
Living on a prayer
Undivided
Keep the Faith
Wanted : Dead or Alive
The distance
Its my life
Misunderstood
Someday I’ll be saturday night
Just older
I'll be there for you (with Richie singing :) )
In these arms
Born to be my baby
I’ll Sleep When I'm dead/ Rockin all over the world
Raise Your Hands

Encore:
I got the Girl
Captain Crash and the Beauty Queen from Mars
Bad Medicine
Shout

The guys were so energetic and Jon looked really happy, he seemed a bit tired after the encore but who can blame him lol! Jon’s voice was brilliant, I think he delivered beautifully on every song (except for IBTFY obviously). I think all the guys played very well. As far as I could hear all the guitars/drums/keyboards were perfect! I was so happy to hear Runaway, I have never heard that live before and it was awesome!!! :) :) :) It was also great to hear Bounce and Undivided, although I have heard them at Wembley, but I didn’t know them then so it was different. Undivided especially was sung beautifully and very emotionally. Sometime around then Jon said happy birthday to a 7 year old kid who seemed really happy :D (well who wouldn’t lol!) And later (I’m sorry I don’t remember which song) Dave played a little solo bit on the keyboards and he was of course wonderful (my god those fingers move fast lol!) And later Jon changed into a different black tshirt so no chest any more :( but still one amazing smile!!! :D
The Distance was wonderful, never heard that live before and OMJ!! It is truly one of the most beautiful songs ever!!! :) I was very very impressed with Saturday Night, I have never heard such a good live version of it!!! Jon just kept going and going and going (what a voice!) it was just sublime!! It was as if someone had filled my veins with melted chocolate!!! :P Just Older was sung with such passion – I really felt like I was being possessed by it!!! Especially when Jon sang the line – “You can’t win if you’re not afraid to lose” I finally realised the true relevance of it to my own life and it helped make a decision I have been unsure of for a long time. I have so much to thank Bon Jovi for.
Now – Richie singing IBTFY!!!!!! Wow!!! I have so wanted to hear him sing live after getting his solo albums – OMJ!! What a voice! I was enchanted!!! In these arms and born to be my baby, were sung very well, compared to when I heard them at Cardiff, Jon’s voice was on top form! :D Sleep/Rockin were a great combination which I hadn’t heard live before – it was so much fun and Jon seemed to be having such a great time. He is such a wonderful front man!!! :D One song I was really happy to hear was Raise your hands, I heard that in Cardiff but an evil woman behind me wouldn’t let me stand up , so this time I more than made up for it hehehe!!! It was so great!!!
Then the guys left :( but they came back, Jon wearing a leather jacket. Captain Crash was great :) the whole audience joined in waving their arms and I just felt so happy to be part of this huge wonderful establishment that is Bon Joviism ;) Then to top it off – Jon said “There’s a doctor in the house” and everyone went crazy!!! It was such an amazing delivery of it!!! :D :D Jon and all the guys were putting in 100000000000000%. Shout was great to end the evening, with Jon introducing the guys in humorous ways (although I couldn’t hear much of it) and we all cheered like hell for all of them!!! They deserve so much for making so many people so happy! :) I wish I could tell them how much they mean to everyone!
After they left they started showing a video but I didn’t stay for much of it as we had to leave. We drove past two limousines leaving the stadium and waved, so either we got wave at the band – or just complete strangers lol! The traffic was awful, the band left at 10.20 and we didn’t get home till 1 and I live near Wolverhampton! But that couldn’t dampen my spirit.
All in all it was an amazing night!!! I couldn’t find a flaw with it except that it ended. It truly was the happiest night of my life!!! :) :) :) All the guys put in their all into their performance, and the audience were also brilliant (even if I say so myself lol!). Jon especially looked so happy which made me even happier. :D Every time I see him I love him more and more (if that’s possible). He has given me the best times of my life! They are the most talented group of people in the world!!!! I wonder if they know what they mean to everyone……

I hope you enjoyed my incoherent, excited babbling lol!!!! I’m absolutely shattered now, am barely staying awake in my English lesson!! But it was all absolutely worth it! Hopefully I will get my photos developed soon!!!! Thanks for reading :)
