28 June 2003 - London, UK Concert Review 2 July 2003
Bon Jovi Rock Hyde Park

A review by Trixie / Tracey.Bowers@btinternet.com

Hi Everyone

Just thought I would review the gig in case anyone was interested

Well BJ can add another 92,000!!! (incredable figure that) to the faces they have rocked, and I am so glad I managed to get Gold Standing tickets, seeing the sea of ppl behind me in the unreserved standing area was amazing you could see nothing but heads!

Bon Jovi came on stage at just after 7.15pm early for a concert, but I think Hyde park had given them a closing time of 10pm (the locals complaining about the noise LOL)

Anyway they started with Bounce and then you give love a bad name, by then I had totally lost it and I can't even remember the rest of the set list. But they did a fantastic version of Lay your hands on me, and keep the faith, Blood on Blood and I've got the girl where 2 surprises. Ray Davies joined them on stage for Lola, which rocked the park I have say. Then Jon did his usual version of Lulus shout and threw in rocking all over the world for good measure :-). They also did Livin on a prayer (of couse) they started off with the acoustic version (which was fab!) and then went into it again in the normal version, and Jon decided he would let the crowd sing it for him, we all expected him to pick the song up again but he just stood there grinning from ear to ear, as we kept up with Ritchies guitar, 92,000 singing back at you "we're half way there wwohho living on a prayer" must be totally awesome. Ritchie also took the lead vocals on I'll be there for you as well, and to be honest hes not got a bad voice live at all, Jon best watch out LOL. Also worth mentioning David on keys, hes actually really rather good, no Mick but at least hes playing it all live! As for Tico man he can hit those skins, and the unsung hero the bass player Hugh, hes never in any pics of the band nor included in any promo work, but without him I think they would seriously be lost, the foundation of the band.

It came to about 10pm and Jon was just finishing up, and says, you know I'm not done yet, fook it lets play some more, they will have to throw me in jail LOL. And so they did, the gig eventually finished at 10.10pm just short of three hours, and I think they could have played another hour as well, they looked as if it was "just a walk in the park"

By the end of the night, I could hardly walk, I had literally danced my legs off, not too mention sung my heart out, I guess you could say I enjoyed it lol. It was also great to see families sat outside the gig enjoying a picnic in the park, just listening to the music, there must have been as many out side as in :-))

Till next time
