15 July 2003 - Minneapolis, MN, USA Concert Review 17 July 2003
Outstanding show!!

A review by Molly / molson@flynngaskins.com

Where are all the reviews? The first acoustic show of the tour and I'm the first one?? This show was outstanding. As the stage was being set for the band, it was clear it was going to be acoustic as they placed a stool in front of the 3 microphones, one for Jon, Richie, and Hugh. We were all a little nervous. Although we had heard of the acoustic show, we weren't sure what to expect, especially since we were all there to get ROCKED! Anyway, the winner of the VH1 command the band contest introduced the band. She was very excited and announced the Minneapolis concert as being the first city on the tour to get the acoustic set. The set was very well received. Watching and hearing Jon sing Blood on Blood, giving it his all, seeing the emotions on his face like it was the last song he would ever sing had me practically in tears. I felt honored to be there and witness this. Everyone was emotionally caught up in the set, especially Jon. This band could do anything they want to do on stage (or do nothing at all) and we would love them. They came on at 9 pm and played acoustically until about 10 pm when Jon yelled "are you ready to plug these guitars in?" The sold out Target Center went absolutely nuts. They then played electrically until about 11:25 pm. This was by far the best show I have ever seen them do. Jon went WAY above and beyond the usual show he could have put on. And I don't recall ever seeing/hearing Richie play like he did last night. The group was tight yet loose. I know the Believers know what I'm talkin' about. I don't know how he does what he does night after night but I'm thakful he can. For all of you bitchin' about an acoustic show, there's no need to bitch. Trust me, it is incredible, absolutely worth it, and you won't regret paying the $85 (or whatever) to get in. At the end of the night, when Jon pulled shirt over his head and just stood there in his glory, with his arms outstretched, I wish I could freeze that moment in time forever. He said he'd see us soon. I can't f'n wait!!!
