15 July 2003 - Minneapolis, MN, USA Concert Review 20 July 2003
Everyone's hands were raised for Bon Jovi

A review by tbgirl

I had an idea of what the concert would be like, but my expectations were far surpassed by both the Goo Goo Dolls and Bon Jovi! I was in a state of shock right from the beginning of the show, and it seemed so surreal to me. When Goo Goo Dolls played Dizzy first, i knew right from that moment that this concert would be different from all the rest. The guys were so tight, and they worked the crowd so well. They really knew how to please us, and Johnny was funnier than i ever imagined. Black Balloon and Iris were the highlights for me, and the crowd went wild for both songs. I was impressed that they played for so long. Just when I was thinking that the Goo Goo Dolls were a concert in themselves, Bon Jovi comes on and it was absolutely amazing. Their "Have a Little Faith In Me" was perfect, and a great way to start the accoustic show. Many people were looking around wondering at first why they decided to play accoustic for the first portion, but I know that once they heard how great Bon Jovi sounded, it was made quite clear that the concert lived up to everyones expectations. And for a 40 year old man, wow, he still looks good, and he knows it too. He wore a tight wifebeater and tight jeans, the perfect outfit. Richie was as much a part of the concert's success as Jon. His expertise really shone through, as he dominated with the guitar in the accoustic section, and even in the electric. He's a genius. He also sang I'll be there for you, and everyone loved it. Their encore consisted of 4 songs (including Shout), and it was amazing. Raise Your Hands really got everyone going, and no one's hands were at their sides at that point. I'm not from Minneapolis, but i did drive 6+ hours in horrible traffic to get to the concert, and it was worth the trip!!! Bon Jovi shouted "I'll see ya soon" and I hope he's true to his words cause I cant wait to see him again. The Goo Goo Dolls were the perfect addition to the concert, and they are one of my favourite bands. If they ever come to Canada, or even to somewhere close to Thunder Bay like Minneapolis, I'd see them in their own concert any day. Thanks for such a great concert boys!!
