1 August 2003 - Cincinnati, OH, USA Concert Review 5 August 2003
Hot night by the Ohio River!

A review by Jerry

Flew up to Cincinnati to visit friends and catch Jon and the Boys. After seeing Bon Jovi in Charlotte with full electric setup and the Bounce album stage, we didn't know what to expect from the acoustic set. Well, we weren't disappointed. We thought the performance was excellent. Very intimate in the Riverbend Music Center. Unfortunately, the Ohio crowd was ripping ready for the band but most weren't expecting unplugged. Jon was in good spirits in the beginning but as the acoustic set wound down the crowd was losing interest. When the band went full electric, the crowd went wild! The rest of the show was typical Bon Jovi energy until the very end. It was a very hot and humid night at this venue on the banks of the Ohio River and I believe it began to take a toll on the band. They were obviously very hot and sweating heavily. Jon sang the last song of the set and the encore with very little audience interaction. He also went back stage between each song and was very pale on camera closeups. I think the heat had really gotten to him and was probably a little disappointed the acoustic set wasn't very well received. All in all a very good Bon Jovi show and as usual the band left the crowd screaming for more. Bon Jovi once again shows why it is one of the best audience received bands performing today. Can't wait for the next album and World Tour. We'll see you there!
