1 August 2003 - Cincinnati, OH, USA Concert Review 10 August 2003
Will we ever know what was wrong?

A review by Jaime / Jdillonc@aol.com

This was my second show on this tour (first one was in NC). My husband and I paid a pretty penny for the 3rd row seats (to the right of the stage) and came from TN. I must say I was a bit disappointed. I know I'm gonna get slammed for this, but I didn't like the acoustic set. They just sat there and played. All the songs sounded like ballads. Even the up beat, kick ass songs were so slooooooow. They slowed down "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night" so much it was almost unrecognizable. It was just not the high energy show Bon Jovi is known for. When they finally did plug in the light show started and the crowd went wild. I think they were getting over the acoustic and was ready to party. But something wasn't right. Jon didn't seem himself. He didn't talk to the crowd much or move around the stage. He only came to my side once, he pretty much stayed in the middle (like those guys didn't see him enough during the acoustic set). He messed up on "Captain Crash" and had to start the verse all over again. When it was over they were outta there like a flash. They didn't prolong leaving the stage like they ususally do. Maybe Jon was sick, maybe it was the heat, or maybe the tour has taken its toll on them and they are just ready to go home. Who knows? But something was totally going on. Don't get me wrong, Bon Jovi is and will always be the best band ever. They still put on the best show. But compared to the NC show, this one could have been better. No matter what, I would still shell out the bucks and make that drive to do it all over again. And I will on the next tour.
