8 August 2003 - E. Rutherford, NJ, USA Concert Review 10 August 2003
Pure Rock And Roll

A review by Cathy / livergirl98@yahoo.com

Friday night at Giants Stadium is so very hard to describe. Quite simply, the Jovi men were truly incredible!

The band was totally "on", their passion and their energy endless, they gave the audience their all and then some. The show was a pure joy to witness. For me personally, Friday night at Giants Stadium was one of the best performances I have seen from the band. Just amazing.

They mixed up the song list and provided great variety from many years. Yes, there were the expected songs - which we all know and love - but thrown into the mix were "Raise Your Hands", "In These Arms", "Wild In The Streets", "Living In Sin" and "Captain Crash And The Beauty Queen From Mars". Each complimenting another.

The band were having genuine fun, the was enjoyment on the stage so obvious and people in the audience were shaking their bootie, happy to sing and dance along with the Jersey men. And speaking of dancing, Miss Ava Sambora was Jon's dance partner during "I Got The Girl" and she was loving it! So was her Dad!

Jon put his whole heart into the performance, giving the audience every ounce he had. The man is a pure professional, Jon is the preacher to the people. Richie was damn near perfect. His playing - especially on his much loved "Honey Blonde" guitar - was a joy to hear and watch, he feels the music and you can see the power of that flow through him. Tico was an energetic ball of passion. His powerhouse playing of the skins makes you want to stomp your feet. David was a man in his element, totally loving what he does and falling into his music. Hugh was Mr Cool, he was having a great time and doing his thang so well. (NB: Wonderful to see an affectionate rapport between Richie and Hugh, you can see they enjoy playing together)

Bon Jovi is a class act. They know know to rock, they feed off the audience and that is reciprocated, and they continue to give. I know I am biased and after seventeen years maybe I do wear the rose coloured glasses, but they are one of the best live bands on any given day and that - in part - is why they remain amongst us twenty years on. And they are not going anywhere in a hurry!

# 1 Bonus of the night...Jon happily announced the band would be back at Giants Stadium in 2005. Bring it on!

# 2 Bonus of the night...No rain (after Thursday night thank damn goodness, I am still drying my clothes out!)
