2 February 2006 - Washington DC, USA Concert Review 4 February 2006
hmmmm.....

A review by musiclover

I was really looking forward to the show, I thought it'd be just a fun time. Every bar I'm in these days plays You Give Love a Bad Name or Livin' On A Prayer and the whole place goes nuts. I thought it'd be fun like that. It wasn't.

The second song in the set list was You Give Love a Bad Name, the whole crowd was into it, even though nobody on stage really was. Still, it looked like it was going to be a fun night. The next song was a ballad, everyone went to go grab a beer and get ready for a rockin' tune.

It never came. One slow song after another, after another. And then the encore. My hopes were up again, we hadn't heard Livin' On A Prayer yet. Then I heard it as I had never heard it before - acoustic. During the refrain of Livin' On A Prayer, when the energy just pumps out of the song and elevates everyone, Jon & Richie changed up the song and put in a completely flat refrain. The audience was having none of it, everyone sang their protest as they drown out the mikes.

I liked the opening band a lot better - I just wish someone knew who they were, Bon Jovi never mentioned them and the guys selling the $45 t-shirts had no idea.
