great show
This was my third Bon Jovi concert, and, to date, the best one. I'm from Vienna, and I was a bit disappointed that BJ wouldn't be coming to my home town this time, but Austria is small, Linz isn't too far, so I was on my way. The stadium was not too great, I had a seat in row 3, which I thought would be great (I can't stand standing in the crowd), but more back and higher up would have been better - I was behind the bars of a fence and saw the stage like being in prison. But the show by BJ was worth everything (Nickelback was a quite good support act, too).
The big difference to the Bounce tour was that they played a lot from the new album. However, people's favourites seemed to be "Have a nice day", "It's my life", "In these arms" (great they brought this one back) and "Livin' on a prayer". I don't understand all the criticism about "Joey", it's one of my favourite BJ ballads and I loved to hear it live. The show lasted almost 3 hours. I don't have anything to complain about the set list, although I winced when I read afterwards that Düsseldorf got "Dry County". Thank God I didn't know that beforehands, otherwise I would have waited for it the whole show and then have been disappointed. BTW, we had big luck with the weather, the day before wasn't nice, and neither the day after, but May 15th was a day full of sunshine, and later on the starry sky appeared above the stadium - nothing like that Crush concert in Zürich from the DVD :) |
