4 June 2006 - Manchester, UK Concert Review 5 June 2006
OMG Bon Jovi were amazing!!!

A review by Steph / Jaffa-fiend@hotmail.com

50 odd thousand people turned up at the city of manchester stadium with a view to seeing one band only: and they didn't disappoint! Dressed in tight black jeans, an army jacket and sunglasses under a head of hair to die for, Jon was out to impress the ladies. The opening 'Last man standing' got the gig underway but the concert only really started with the third song which was 'You give love a bad name'. Jon didn't even need to sing because the crowd chanted it in unison at his command (or not as was the case). They went on to do crowd-pleasing performances of 'It's my life' 'Runaway' 'Who says you can't go home' and the title track to the tour 'Have a nice day' all of which were simply astounding. Jon stepped aside to let his partner in crime Richie Sambora take the lead vocals for 'I'll be there for you' (my personal favourite) which was highly emotional for both crowd and singer. The party got going even more when the unmistakable keyboard opening of 'Bad medicine' got everyone bouncing up and down with a brief show-stopping interlude of lulu's 'Shout' which built up 'medicine' to a truely amazing climax. They finished the main set with 'Livin on a prayer'. Jon couldn't even be heard because the crowd (me included) were singing so loudly and excitedly which is what really makes a gig: fans who truely love their heroes and their songs. They came back to do Dry County (a magnificent performance which further showed that these guys are fantastic musicians whatever they play.) The encore consisted of 'Saturday night' followed by 'Wanted dead or alive' (Jon introduced this song by saying "please rise for the national anthem" lol). The very last song was 'Keep the faith'. Every song was of the highest quality and there wasn't a soul in the house that felt they hadn't got their money's worth. Bon Jovi were simply magnificent! I'm surprised I've found the words for a review as I can no longer speak from all my excited singing! (I know this was typed obviously but I was speechless last night!)
