I have been a fan of Bon Jovi since I was 9 years old...and went to my first gig at MK bowl in 1993. This weekend was to be my 13th & 14th time of seeing them.
I took my girlfriend as I wanted her to see this & also my guitarist from my band, Red Dollar (no plug there !!!)
I was appalled at this gig....this was the worst time I have ever seen the band...
It started with the sound...Dreadful....it was constantly up & down, tinny & I could talk to my friends in a normal speaking voice throughout 3/4 of the set & I wasn't even halfway back in the stadium...So in my opinion, get a new sound engineer ( however....see tomorrows review ! )
And now I have a few complaints about the band....Coming on to Last Man Standing was dull...lacked energy, to be honest, the whole gig did....I used more energy going to the bar and back !!...
Jon seemed to be more pissed off about the fact that he wasn't opening wembley instead of entertaining Milton Keynes. Don't get me wrong, the atmosphere was poor at the bowl and I put this down to a poor performance by England in the world cup...everyone I spoke to was annoyed about it but I felt the band could of done more.
I didn't see the point in having a walk way in the venue when Jon only used it once (aside from the opener), every song was slow & there version of Boys are back in town was painfully slow...nothing like it was in 89.
To me, alot of the songs didn't seem rehearsed & like they were just blagging their way through.
And the last thing to moan about was the size of the gold circle or as I would like to say, the circle that took up nearly half of the floor....seemed like the organizers were trying to milk every bit of etra money they could.
I felt embarrased at telling my girlfriend and friend that this was going to be awesome...Its going to take alot for them to go again.
I know everything wasn't the bands fault but they didn't do anything that seemed to make things better.
Overall, I give this gig a 2/10 rating & I'm a collector & a massive fan.
After that, I didn't want to go tonight but I did so check sundays review. |
