18 July 2006 - E. Rutherford, NJ, USA Concert Review 19 July 2006
Solid Show

A review by Mr. Must-See TV

Solid show. The choice of Nickelback as an opener seems odd as they don't seem to compliment Bon Jovi too well. You could tell by the crowd reaction. They weren't really into them. Past openings act like the Goo Goo DOlls and Pete Yorn were much better and better compliment Bon Jovi.

On to the show. The stadium was scorching. It was oppresively hot. However, it began to rain and cooled things down a bit. I love it when it rains. I was at the last Giants Stadium show when it rained and it turned out to be my favorite show of all time because of how fun it was to sing and dance in rain.

The guys sounded well. Jon did his usual thing. However, their show seems a bit stale. They run through the same songs all the time. Why not mix it up a bit? Playing "In These Arms" was a great way to do this. They need to stop playing any song from the This Left Feels Right album. That's a terrible album and each version makes me wants to scream at how bad it is. Stick to the original versions.

Why not play something from the "These Days" album, which did not do well commercially but has some great songs like "This Ain't a Love Song" or "Hey God!" which can be sung instead of "Saturday" or "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" which I love but it gets stale to listen to the same songs all the time.

That said, I thought they sounded great. The stage could have been better. The encore was short (only one song), but the lightning was getting bad, so it was good that they ended when they did.

I'm going on the 19th, so hopefully with better weather we'll see a better show.

Overall, I give the show a "B".
