21 July 2006 - Chicago, IL, USA Concert Review 22 July 2006
LONG WAIT worth IT!

A review by Jason Knuth / jason_michaels22@yahoo.com

Well, the trip was the worst car experience i have ever been through. A 2 hour trip took an ungodly 5 and a half hours through bottleneck traffic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Un believ able! For starters we ran over a water cooler tank, and it should have been a sign for us. I ended up pissing on the side of the expressway, or i would have exploded. Close to the stadium, Beth went in some bushes..i ran cover. Well, we finally made it into the stadium. Chicago, IL-Soldier Field! It looked amazing, i had never been to a stadium show, and was blown away. First off, it was so loud with all the people. I wonder if it gets louder when the Bears play. Because we were delayed so damn long, we missed Nickelback completely. That sucked, considering, Russ really wanted to see them. We had decent seats, 3rd row on the middle section of the stadium on the side. We could comfortably watch the show. They opened with "Last man Standing", "You Give Love a Bad name". Overall they did 5 songs off "have a nice day", including the title track, "who says you can't go Home", "Complicated" and "Story of My Life". From the box set they did "Radio saved my life tonite". No songs from Bounce. They did "In these arms", "Keep the faith, Little Bit of Soul" from the Faith CD. New Jersey was represented by "Born To Be MY Baby", "Bad Medicine", "Blood on Blood", which i was very happy to hear. I love that song to no end. Also, Richie sang "I'll be there for YOu", it was the best I heard him do it in years. Slippery when wet songs were "Raise Your Hands", and their national anthem, "Wanted-Dead or Alive". Jon took us on a ride in his time machine to 1982 and had a real smooth story lead into "Runaway". Maybe the worst song performance of the night was "Always", it was done much slower than the recorded version, and it just seemed to not want to end. But, one bad song was not that big o deal. "someday i'll be Saturday night" was fun as always. From Crush they did "It's my life", and two of my fave live songs, "Just Older" and "Captain Crash and the Beauty Queen from Mars". The show was phenomanal as always. The crowd was real into it. After almost 8 hours total drive time, it was a very tiring day and quite exhausting.
