17 June 2001 - Cardiff, Wales, UK Concert Review 18 June 2001
WOW - That truly was One Wild Night

A review by Honey / honey_02000@hotmail.com

WOW - What a night!

After seeing them in Huddersfield I was still on a high and very much looking forward to seeing them again at home in Cardiff. Yes, the crowd was smaller but you'd have never guessed it from the total Bon Jovi mania that swept through the stadium. Having the roof closed made it feel like a giant club, where you were having one hell of a wild party with a bunch of old friends.

From the moment the limos pulled up at the back of the stage till the moment they left the crowd was absolutely wild. The setlist was fantastic -

One Wild Night Raise Your Hands Bad Medicine(Shout)
In These Arms It's My Life Always I Got the Girl Born To Be My Baby Lay Your Hands On Me Keep the Faith Just Older Wild In the Street You Give Love A Bad Name

Encore 1: These Days Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
Encore 2: I'll Sleep When I'm Dead Tequila Twist&Shout
Encore 3: Wanted Dead or Alive Livin' On A Prayer
Encore 4: Never Say Goodbye (Acoustic)

Other notes - Jon wished all the dads a happy father's day after singing I've got the Girl. His son Jesse James came out and was held up by Jon to say hi into the mic (at which everyone cheered him and Jesse was smiling at everyone), Jon then carried him over and sat him by Tico saying 'that's my son Jesse James' - massive awwwss from the crowd. Usual banter from Jon that always gets they crowd hyped. Big hysteria when Jon took of his jacket and pulled up the sleeves on his t-shirt, pretending to get mean. Big cheers at the start of all Richie's guitar solos.

The guys were taking their final bow when this guy managed to leg it across the stage wearing a cowboy hat and clutching an inflatable guitar and yelled into the mic 'Thank you Cardiff' (I think that's what he shouted) the guys started laughing as Jon asked 'who was that crazy guy?' - the crowd went crazy and Jon started with the 'maybe we'll do another song' look - needless to say everyone picked up on this and the noise was deafening. While Richie got hold of his guitar Jon stood on stage pretending to strum along while someone fetched him a guitar. The result was an amazing acoustic performance of Never Say Goodbye - an excellent way to round off the night.

Although I've seen them quite a few times in concert this was with no doubt the best one I've seen. The guys seemed to be really enjoying themselves. When Bon Jovi next tour I beg them to play the Millenium Stadium again - the venue really took on a party atmosphere and the lighting and sound was really good - maybe this was because the roof was closed.

Thanks Bon Jovi - Jon, Richie, Tico, David, Hugh (and everyone else on the tour) - you truly gave us all One Wild Night
