16 June 2001 - Milton Keynes, England, UK Concert Review 21 June 2001

A review by Smash

Wow, what a night. One I'll never forget, that's for sure. Got to Milton Keynes and it was raining like mad (worst drive I've had ever too!). But anyways got there and Delirious were on stage - they were cool. Matchbox 20 came on and well, they kinda bored me. But then finally, around 8.10 Bon Jovi comes on and bursts into "One Wild Night" beautifully done.

Then it was these songs (think they're in the right order:)

Raise Your Hands
You Give Love A Bad Name
In These Arms
It's My Life
Born To Be My Baby
Bed of Roses
I Got The Girl
Captain Crash and the Beauty Queen From Mars
Just Older
Wild In The Streets
Blaze of Glory
Lay Your Hands On Me
Keep The Faith
Sympathy for the Devil
Bad Medicine/Shout (which got EVERYONE jumping!)
I'll Be There For You (nice)
Say It Isn't So
Sleep When I'm Dead
Tequilla!!!
Twist and Shout!!!(which they added an extra chorus to cos everyone was lovin it)
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
Wanted Dead or Alive
Livin On A Prayer

There were 3 encores, including Livin On A Prayer - which was great. The band did their bows and thank you's after Wanted but then Jon comes back saying "Haven't you guys had enough? Don't you have jobs to go to tomorrow? Well I gotta go work tomorrow! Gotta go Sunday school - sin on Saturday, pray on Sunday" and then he just starts singin the chorus of Livin On A Prayer with the whole crowd joining in! That was an amazing moment! And then the band comes and they sing the whole song from the top.

Bed Of Roses was cool cos a fan managed to get on stage (maybe from the side bit where the contest winners were?)and started to dance with Jon during the solo and Jon says "2 more times, 2 more times" so Richie has to improvise his solo a bit more, and then Jon kisses the girl(on the lips, to which all the women went mad!) and carries on with the song.

Jon forgot to start Wanted Dead of Alive, coming in at "Only the names will change".

I'll Be There For You was great, as were Wild in the Streets and Raise Your Hands. It was nice to see In These Arms too, didn't expect that one.

Tequilla was REALLY cool, had everyone dancin.

All in all, best concert I've been to. Much much MUCH better than last year's Crush at Wembley. But one thing - how come they dont do anything from These Days???
