24 June 2001 - Hamburg, Germany Concert Review 26 June 2001
Best BJ concert ever

A review by Pol|e / polle@lookie.dk

This was my second Bon Jovi in tha last year. The other one i saw in Göteborg in Sweden last year, and that was a great concert too....

BUT THIS ONE ROCKED !!!!!!

There were different things that really got this to be the best BJ concert ever, in my mind.

1: The weather was PERFECT.... It should have been taped for a live release....

2: Jon and David came out and joined the FIRST supportband, Jon's old idol Southside Johnny (and the ashbury jukes).

3: The sound were simply amazing, it was (almost) like listening to a CD.

4: The guys were REALLY turned on, and gave it all they got. No doubt this is the most turned on Jon Bon Jovi i've ever seen, including television broadcasts etc....

I could go on, but of course there also were some bad things:

1: I think that the sound of the audience faded away, 'cause there were no tribunes or walls to reflect it.

2: They played a JBJ solosong: Blaze of glory, but they still doesn't played any of Richie's solostuff. Or at least Richie could sing a song.

3: The stage were too low, they could have build it a or two higher, so everyone could see probably.

BUT this criticism is is not directed to the band or the show, except for number two ;)

I still think this is the greatest Bon Jovi show i've EVER seen. And i would gladly drive 400 km again, to see another show of this kind.

One of the things i really love about Bon Jovi when they play live,, is that they really cares about the true and old fans. They always remember to play some of the old goodies, that the new 'popfans' don't know. This time it was 'Wild in the streets', 'Wild is the wind' and 'Raise you're hands'. And then they did the goddamn best version EVER of 'Livin' on a prayer'. They played in a slow blues kinda way, that sounded simply amazing.

I could go on, writing 'bout all the good stuff that were displayed that evening. But you should have been there :)

I guess it all comes down to this: Bon Jovi are the greatest, and they will always be the number 1 rockband in the world.

Thank you, Bon Jovi, for loving us (Corny, but true, aye ??)
