24 June 2001 - Hamburg, Germany Concert Review 26 June 2001
Don't know where you were...

A review by phibi / phibi@gmx.de

I really don't know where you guys were, perhaps somewhere on the street, ten blocks away from the Trabrennbahn, but I was there and I had a great time!

The athmosphere was great from the second Jon entered the stage! Well sure, I have to admit that Stereophonics were the worst band, they could pick for support...

But when Southside Johnny played, I saw Jon coming up the stage and when he came up to sing with them I could hardly hear them, because the screaming around me was sooooo loud! The crowd got crazy. It was so much fun, when they played together, even when the singer from Southside tried to make us sing "ah" and Jon tells him. "You have to say it in German!" One second after Jon had sing the "ah" it came back to him in 40000 voices. He had so much fun in playing music with Southside! The singer of Southside had to drag him from the stage!

When they left, the crowd was hot and wanted more and Stereophonics really killed the good mood. The singer whined the songs into the micro and there was no fever in it. I could have fallen asleep, where I was standing! Fortunately they were gone after 45min of pure not-making-music.

Then the athmosphere began to get hotter with each minute, the stage was uncovered and it looked really great! Each time the music from the tape stopped the adrenaline started to come up a little bit more. And when the first beats of One Wild Night came out of the speakers and Jon and the band was viewed in the "elevator" the screaming started. It was such a great beginning of the show. David, Tico, Ritchie, Hugh and Jon took their places and the world's best Rockband started to rock Hamburg.

The people around me were dancing from the first second, and singing and screaming, the hands in the air. At times I couldn't see the stage anymore because of the sea of arms in front of me.

Jon and the band did great, I can't find the right words to describe it. It was my third Bon Jovi concert and it was as perfect as the others.

The weather was perfect, the choosing of the songs they played were perfect (the only I missed was Bed of Roses), Jon and the band was perfect, the location was perfect (only the accoustic wasn't that good) and the crowd got mad.
I danced, I jumped I clapped and waved may hands. (My legs don't like me anymore :o)

Even one day after the concert I'm still groggy and my voice isn't really there, because of all the screaming and singing.

I think it was a really great and perfect and ... can't find the right words... concert.

And everybody who don't think so, wasn't really there.

I loved it!
Hoping to see Bon Jovi soon again.
