Not what I remember reading...people hated the TLFR versions played on the following tour. I agree it wasn't 'proper' acoustic Jovi, but we can't keep expecting the 88 MTV acoustic performance, just like we can't expect Jon to sing original Always.

The Stand Up Guy stuff on the other hand IS proper acoustic stuff. The songs are different, original and of high quality. Why do you think Jon added those songs to WAN? Because that's the way he wanted to go. The fans didn't like it, so he decided to do WAN II with better songs and mixing elements of most post 2000 albums (we've even got a Bounce style track in Devil).

The result: fans initially loved THINFS, a lot still seem too. The rest of the world couldn't care less.

Personally, I think it's a shame we missed out on the opportunity of a mature intimate acoustic record with a 'different' tour. Bruce did it, Bryan Adams did it, but Jon listened to his fans; so we get the same tour with the same songs and Jon struggling more and more to please us 😉

You're saying that Bon Jovi, the world famous arena rock band should've released an album filled with songs like Old Habits Die Hard?

One or two acoustic songs sure, but not even you can believe an entire album of it would be a good idea.

Keep it. Can't drop such a huge hit completely, I would change my tune if Phil was murdering the solo's but he's not - let's face it, when you're there you're singing along so you don't notice Jon so much and it's the solo's that make the difference.

The world not caring about the new album isn't much to do with it's quality, they're an extremely unfashionable band to like right now. They've hit nostalgia status where people see them live because it's from when they were young but they're not gaining lots of new fans.

Also I recall them getting crucified here in 2006 when the TLFR mini section was on the HAND tour, I don't think it was as beloved as you think.

Although I have worst voice in the history of voices, something miraculously happens to it at a Bon Jovi concert... not only do I become the best singer in the world, I somehow sound exactly like Jon... Then for some strange reason when I get home and listen to the recordings and hear myself in the background, my voice somehow reverted back to that horror...

So now back to the question, do I want Jon to keep Always (and all the other great songs that he can't sing anymore) in the set???

My answer is hell yes... because whatever Jon can't do, I can...

Sorry, I may have been unclear. The band did some stripped-back acoustic sets on the Bounce tour and fans loved them and wanted them to do a full album of that stuff or release one of these concerts. The fact that we ended up with TLFR instead surely put many off.

I agree about the acoustic record and many fans probably would've liked Jon to go that route after the 2013 tour, but I think it should've been a solo effort. He doesn't need a full band for songs like Not Running Anymore. And I don't think he avoided doing it due to fans not liking these tracks. If Jon would make his decisions based on fan reactions he would've needed to ditch pretty much everything that was on WAN.

Drop it a full step (so it's in C# live) so Jon can get closer to hitting anything close to the right notes on key - or flat out drop the song.

Here we have IMO the average Jovi fan...they want to go to concerts and hear the same old songs, regardless of the quality and strain Jon has to put himself through...and we're talking Jovi fans here (50% or less of the audience at a Jovi concert?). So...stop the complaining; you're getting what you want.

Back to the acoustic stuff: listen to the Yokohama 2003 show and be honest. There's some good stuff on there, but Jon couldn't sing a lot of it (Always debate 14 years ago). TLFR is what he could manage then and probably now. We shouldn't have criticized it so much... it was and is reality; unless you like 2017 Always like most people 😅
