Bobby is still doing stuff here at the Jersey shore - perhaps that is what he wanted after all these years of traveling.

I don't mean to turn this into a Bobby topic because it shouldn't be but, I feel as if when Bobby left Jon lost something. I mean, if you look at the 2013 tour, even though Phil X was playing the majority of the solos Jon relied much much more on Bobby from an musical and a partnership standpoint. They still played acoustic versions of some gems like Saturday Night, Diamond Ring and Santa Fe. Everett has an amazing voice but it doesn't meld with Jon's the way Richie's or Bobby's did. Yeah, he sucked at some of the solos, but he is missed....

Agreed. Him being gone severely limits the random songs from the back catalouge he knew.

Never got the disapproval for Bobby by fans. Yes, his solos were pretty much awful but luckily he never got many of those.
He could sing very, very well, and had a nice tone that worked well with Jons. He played more than just rhytm chords, he played some important leads for some songs - especially the more modern tunes like What Do You Got, When We Were Beautiful, Whole Lot of Leavin', Water Made Me etc.
He was very laidback on stage, much like Hugh and the reason being that's what Jon wanted him to do. He was there as an extra musican on stage, not as an extra entertainer. I liked the fact that Bobby didn't steal the lime light because after all he's not a Bon Jovi member so why would he?

And last but not least, he was very well rehearsed on Bon Jovi's catalogue. I can't remember a single time when he hasn't been able to join in on a spontaneously played song at concert. Switching Shanks for him hurt the live show much in that sense.

The only real problem I ever had with Bobby was the 'In These Arms' solo. It's not his fault it was given to him, but damn it was awful. It was just a mess.

Yeah, I don't think anyone had any issues with Bobby bar his God awful solos. There was no need for him to have any, especially when Sambora was around.

OH I absolutely had issues, he had no business playing on the harder rock songs. His tone lacked punch and distortion but man could he sing.
