I love These Days, but honestly Keep the Faith kicks its ass. This is such an awesome album. I like every song on it with the exception of Little Bit of Soul - I just cant get into it (I've tried!).
I would love love love to see I Believe and In These Arms beat Dry County and Keep the Faith but I dont think that's going to happen unfortunately. IB and ITA are my favourite Bon Jovi songs ever (with the exception of Prayer). I also think Fear is very underated. It has such great lyrics and an awesome bridge before the chorus. It is so full of energy. 14000pts] I Believe 13pts] In These Arms 12pts] Bed of Roses 11pts] Fear 10pts] If I Was Your Mother 9pts] Keep the Faith 8pts] Dry County 7pts] I Want You 6pts] Blame it on the Love of Rock N Roll 5pts] Woman In Love 4pts] Save a Prayer 3pts] Starting All Over Again 2pts] I'll Sleep When I'm Dead 1pt] Little Bit of Soul |
I really love this album with the exception of the bottom 2. It's one of the mainstays of my ipod while running. Good rock tunes and great lyrics.
"I Believe" was awesome in Lisbon last year which just made me appreciate it even more than I already did, that performance probably just eased it above Dry County which is an absolutely brilliant song. Both songs would have to be in any Jovi Fans top 10. 14pts - I Believe 13 - Dry County 12 - Keep The Faith 11 - In These Arms 10 - Bed Of Roses 09 - If I Was Your Mother 08 - I Want You 07 - I'll Sleep When I'm Dead 06 - Fear 05 - Save A Prayer 04 - Starting All Over Again 03 - Blame It On The Love Of Rock 'n' Roll 02 - Little Bit Of Soul 01 - Woman In Love |

I promised I'd be ranking sooner this time, so here we go.
To me Keep The Faith is massive and right up there together with TD as my favourite Bon Jovi record. At the moment it even might be THE best one in my book. What it is that makes it such a damn addictive record to me? Well first of all the quality of the songs that were created during the KTF sessions is undeniable. If you take a look at the list of songs from the boxset there are so many high profile songs from those sessions that didn't make the record unfortunately. Radio, Taking it back, Miss 4th, Sympathy etc... And there probably lies the weak spot of the album: Some of the tracks that ended up on the record might be a bit weaker than others that were left off. What a monster this could have been! But although many are complaining that KTF gets considerably weaker in the second half I say it's still a pretty damn high standard there. It may come down to matters of taste in the end but to me this album is close to perfection in many ways. Another strength of the album is the crystal clear and massive production by Bob Rock for example. Pretty much the best work the guy ever did and battling with TD over the best production on a Jovi record. And the KTF tour arguably saw some of the bands finest moments as a live act. I could go on like that forever but I should really try to rate the songs now :) 14pts] Keep the Faith 13pts] Dry County 12pts] Bed of Roses 11pts] I Believe 10pts] Starting All Over Again 9pts] In These Arms 8pts] Fear 7pts] Little Bit of Soul 6pts] I Want You 5pts] Blame it on the Love of Rock N Roll 4pts] Save a Prayer 3pts] I'll Sleep When I'm Dead 2pts] If I Was Your Mother 1pt] Woman In Love It was a close one between KTF and DC, but DC will win in the whole thing anyway so I gave my top vote to KTF. There was a time when I really loved Mother, but it became a bit boring over the time. This and Woman in love were the only positions I was sure of, the others were quite hard to choose. |
Ok, this is hard...
12. In These Arms 11. Dry County 10. I Believe 09. Keep The Faith 08. Bed Of Roses 07. I Want You 06. If I Was Your Mother 05. Blame It On The Love Of Rock n Roll 04. Fear 03. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead 02. Little Bit Of Soul 01. Woman In Love The top five are simply AMAZING songs. I had a hard time choosing between ITA and DC as my favorite, but I figure DC will win anyway so I gave ITA the nod. I've always had a major soft spot for I Want You. I think it is one of their most underrated songs, with one of the best choruses they have ever written. I Believe, Keep The Faith and Bed Of Roses could also switch on a daily basis, but I'll settle for this order for now. |

I, like many of you think this is quite an excellent album. My 2nd favorite Bon Jovi record. I have thoroughly enjoyed every song on it at one time or another (which is more than I can say about my favorite album, These Days). KTF is an interesting album because it draws from many different influences (like Bounce). But unlike Bounce, the production is the glue holding it all together. Think about tracks 2-7... how many ups and downs there are in those songs. It goes from Bed of Roses to IIWYM to Dry County. How can that work? It does.
Here it is: 14: Bed of Roses 13: Dry County 12: I Believe 11: In These Arms 10: Keep the Faith 9: If I Was Your Mother 8: Save a Prayer 7: I Want You 6: Fear 5: Starting Over Again 4: I'll Sleep When I'm Dead 3: Blame it on the Love... 2: Woman in Love 1: Little Bit of Soul I feel bad giving the bottom three the bottom spots... that is how much I love these songs. On a 1-10 scale, every song would earn a 7-8, with BOR and DC getting a 10... a fn 10. |
This is gonna be tough...
14. Dry County 13. In These Arms 12. Keep The Faith 11. Bed Of Roses 10. I Believe 09. If I Was Your Mother 08. I Want You 07. Fear 06. Blame It On The Love OF Rock And Roll 05. Starting All Over Again 04. Little Bit Of Soul 03. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead 02. Woman In Love 01. Save A Prayer I divide this album into to part - the one I like better (14 -> 09) and the one I like less (08 -> 01). I love the album the way it is. I don't those ideas that this would be better with this song and without this song. SWW, NJ and KTF did really well the way they were released. Those b-sides don't the album, Starting All Over Again also doesn't fit it. |
