"Reunion" as a possible next single? Any thoughts?
We are now in March, and in a couple of months, in May, is when graduations for high school and colleges start. Do you think it would be a good idea to release "Reunion" as a single, in time for this period? Lyrically its a perfect song for graduations, very inspiring and motivating for the young kids that are about to start their lives, what do you guys think?

I would prefer Born Again Tomorrow if they are releasing another song. Or Scars to country radio. I like Reunion but think the appeal would be too limited.

Agreed with Deb. I think it would do really well at school events but it'd be dead in the water after thats done.

Plus I think that BJ doesn't target that audience with their music anymore, so I can't see it working either. It's a different story now than it was back in '87 when Never Say Goodbye became THE prom song.

What does even a single release mean anymore in BJ terms? Except for the first single, no one, not even the band seems to care about the following "singles" in terms of promotion.

There were 2 singles released in every country to this day... First was "This House is Not for Sale" (Billboard Hot AC #10). Second is "Roller Coaster" (Billboard Hot AC #11) - except UK where "Born Again Tomorrow" was released instead.

Reunion still feels like an unfinished song to me. It desperately needs an interesting solo and the reoccurring guitar hook is actually quite irritating.

To think that this song or any song has
a) a chance on the pop charts b) any influence whatsoever with graduating high school or college students is completely delirious. I get that you guys like the songs, fine. But I don't know a single person my age or younger who would actually like or appreciate those songs. |
I think Reunion is an amazing song, but I think you really have to be an adult to appreciate the lyrics. I don't believe 18 year olds or 22 year olds can really appreciate the wisdom a 50 year old has to offer. You just don't see things that clearly with youth. I've had this conversation with several friends, some of whom have children in that age range. They think those kids just won't get it until they have lived it. It's a shame, really.

Youth has its rights and I myself, as a high school teacher, understand it just too well. I've understood and learnt to appreciate a lot of things with time but somehow lost this spontaneity and craziness I used to have so let's say it's win-win situation, anyway ;)

Yes, finally someone who gets it. There's no such thing as the second, third, etc. single in Bon Jovi land anymore. They delibaretly buried this idea for THINFS by releasing music videos of every song. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

No, I think she's right. I need to be fifty years old to understand a song with alright lyrics and awful accompanied music.

Hmm, somehow I have managed to like Reunion despite being too young and stupid to understand the wisdom of it. :p
Regarding the song being released as a single, I think others have touched on it already... Singles are pretty meaningless these days, even more so when you're a band like Bon Jovi, and Reunion would get no airplay whatsoever if it were released as a single. |
