Ahhh, nostalgia. On this tune from the soundtrack to the forthcoming "EdTV," Jon Bon Jovi and pals hark back to the sound of their salad days -- from the booming faux-metal power-ballad arrangement to the lyric's white-knuckled, "these tears are real" melodrama. To the cynical mind, "Real Life" is about as far from it as you can get. It's cloying, formulaic, and woefully over the top. Even so, there are likely to be countless listeners out there who will find endless comfort here . . . kind of the same comfort you might find in macaroni and cheese or a bologna sandwich.
