Bon Jovi's "Lost Highway" tour was named the top-grossing tour of 2008. In June, the highway will lead back to Summerfest when the New Jersey rockers open the 2009 festival.
Summerfest announced Friday that tickets for Bon Jovi's June 25 show go on sale at noon March 7, through www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at (800) 745-3000 and at the Marcus Amphitheater box office. Tickets are $97 for red seats, $87 for yellow seats, $67 for bench seats and $42 for lawn seats. Showtime will be 7:30 p.m., with no opening act.
Blending Bruce Springsteen's working-class sensibility with hard-rock guitar dynamics, Bon Jovi has outlasted most of its '80s pop metal competition.
Since the group's 1986 breakout album, "Slippery When Wet," Bon Jovi has remained a major commercial force as a live act and a recording unit. The band parted ways after releasing "New Jersey" in 1988 but came back as big as ever with a series of three consecutive top 10 albums in the early and mid-1990s: "Keep the Faith," "Cross Road" and "These Days."
Two years ago, the band veered in a country direction with "Lost Highway," which featured guest shots from LeAnn Rimes and Big and Rich, and once again, it topped the charts, broadening the group's fan base without apparently alienating longtime loyalists. The group's 2007 Summerfest show was a record-breaking sellout.
This will be Bon Jovi's fourth time headlining Summerfest; they also played the Big Gig's main stage in 1993 and 2001.
