Bon Jovi Tour up for 'People's Choice' Headliner Award 1 December 2011

That’s right, New Jersey’s younger favorite sons (younger than Bruce Springsteen, that is) Bon Jovi are up for the ‘Tour Headliner’ award for 2011. While popular music has morphed more times over the last thirty years than the Utah Duggers have kids, Bon Jovi remains a megawatt constant with their hit-laden rollicking live shows and consistent studio presence.

Fresh off a tour in support of their eleventh studio release, “The Circle”, Bon Jovi hit the road in February, 2009 and seemingly performed everywhere on the planet except deep within the ocean or aloft in one of Sir Richard Branson’s fleet of flying machines.

Over twelve months later, firecracker front man Jon Bon Jovi and his band of merry musicians Richie Sambora, Tico Torres, David Bryan and Hugh McDonald were chosen by Billboard Magazine as the group with the most profitable tour for 2010.

According to Billboard, ‘The Circle’ tour earned over $145 million as the band performed in front of 1.5 million fans.

It was a tour juggernaut that saw the band play live at the 2010 Grammy Awards with Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland; an artist-in-residency monopolization of London’s 02 Arena; a multiple-show love-fest with fellow Jersey-ites at the New Meadowlands Stadium wherein frontman Jon Bon Jovi gutted out a performance with an injured leg; and even included a performance for Oprah Winfrey’s fans down under in Australia.
