For the third time in 14 years, Jon Bon Jovi rocked Tiger Woods’ annual concert fundraiser Tiger Jam, and this weekend was the best of the hat track, raising $1 million. It’s difficult to believe that Jon, 50, is stronger than ever jumping, racing and running all over the Mandalay Bay Events Center stage.
It was “a jukebox full of rock and roll hits,” as Jon put it himself, and the sold-out house loved them all. Thanks to our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue for his concert shots. “Take a close look. I believe they are some of the finest I’ve ever captured. You can feel the music in the photos. The kicker is I was permitted to shoot only two songs, so what you see is even more remarkable given the time constraints,” Tom told me.
Tiger has held his annual Tiger Jam concerts in Las Vegas since moving it here after the first one in L.A. in 1998. Bon Jovi played in 2003 and 2007, making the New Jersey rockers the foundation’s most frequent star supporter. I was absolutely knocked out by his 11-piece brass band backup sounds in “The Kings of Soul“ and the sweet soul voices of his backup singers singled out for the spotlight. Jon is a superstar who gives his all in concert and for a great cause.
