Richie Sambora fans have had plenty to be abuzz about lately: their puppy-eyed six-string slinger has been making appearances with Bon Jovi, finished a solo record, filmed the first video for that release, dyed his hair blonde, and has been tweeting like a bird that’s only recently discovered it can sing.
Rumors of a solo tour in support of his third solo record, “Aftermath of the Lowdown” have been circulating for weeks; and to the delight of countless fans in every corner of the globe, ‘Mr. Bluesman” will indeed be setting out on an abbreviated tour of the U.S. and Europe.
PlanetRock.com announced August 29th that Sambora will be playing at the UK’s Sheperd’s Bush Empire on October 16. Tickets for the London gig go on sale Friday, August 31 at 9am at the link below.
According to an intimate Bon Jovi insider with knowledge of Richie and Bon Jovi’s tour plans through 2013, Sambora will play a two-month solo jaunt that will take him to spots in Europe and the United States. Foreign dates for Amsterdam, Berlin and Munich have already been inked, with rumors swirling about Latin American dates as well.
The acclaimed guitarist’s new record will officially be released on September 17, but has been listened to by thousands on YouTube since the end of July to good response.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Sambora talked about the modern, youthful flavor of ‘Aftermath’, saying “This new record sounds modern. The guys I play with are younger than me; I made sure of that. So we added very much of a younger flavor, and my voice even sounds younger than I am”.
