Richie's collaboration...
Now that "Crazy for This Girl" is finally slowing down on the radio airwaves, Evan and Jaron have begun writing for the follow-up to their 2000 self-titled Columbia Records debut in Los Angeles and have roped in some superstar names to join them.
This time out, the twin duo is eyeing collaborations with Mick Fleetwood, who appeared on Evan and Jaron, as well as R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora (Evan sang on Sambora's "Take Me On" from the On the Line soundtrack).
"We're incredibly excited about a return of Mick Fleetwood," says Evan Lowenstein. "And I spent about six hours in the studio with Sambora [for "Take Me On"], and he said he would play on my next record. I just bumped into him the other day and he was like, 'Dude, when does the record start?' So I'm ecstatic about that."
Like fellow Atlanta duo the Indigo Girls, Evan and Jaron, for the most part, write separately. Together, the duo is currently mulling over 16 or so tracks to hit the recording studio with this month. "The Evan half is going to rock a bit more," says Evan.
One song Evan is currently working through is the tentatively-titled "Lady," which he describes as "Bad Company meets Supertramp meets Bob Seger."
