Thank You Jon 7 August 2000
Fan contribution, commemorating August 7, 4:15

Source: theflash@netvisao.pt

Back in 1997, Jon Bon Jovi released a new solo album, of name "Destination: Anywhere". This polemic album came to split fans opinions, but there was a mark, undeniably strong, of Jon's passion in writing and his absolute sense of justice! This song, which is nothing but a great rock song to those who doesn't know its story, becomes an hymn to the others! The objective of this article is to thank Jon for this piece of art, and tell its story to all the fans! The name of the song? August 7, 4:15!

The story itself is short and sad, and the real meaning is the emotion Jon put in the song! It was the 7th day of August, of the year 1996. Jon's manager's 6 year old daughter was playing in front of her house! It was a fine day, like so many others, and it would probably be perfect if it wasn't for a car, who came and hit the little girl fatally! The song, tells the story of this fatidic day, which saw Jon's "other daughter", a child he loved as his own, be killed by a hit-and-run driver!

My suggestion, is that all fans give the proper attention to the lyrics of the song, being that they explain exactly what happened, like few other songs do!

Four years have passed since this day, and if Jon gets to read this article, I'd like to tell him something, and I know all the fans out there are with me on this one:

Jon, I can only imagine then pain you felt! Just keep on writing the way you do, and remember there are millions out there to support you! You've been giving your fans hundreds of great songs. Here's one I made for you, for the band! It doesn't come close to Bon Jovi songs, but hey... No-one can write a song better than yours! :)

Title: "Bon Jovi"

"Once upon the time
born in march of '62,
this guy came from the shadows,
started singing what he knew!

He called upon his friends, and
they bet that they could play!
Before they knew, it was '82,
releasing "Runaway"!

They started singing bar to bar, I bet they never knew,
that five years from there they would be so high, so high as they could!
"Livin' on a prayer", reached out for the stars,
in was the time of the girls that shine, the flights, the planes, the cars...

I just wish that you could sing,
'til the world stop being mean!
I wish that you can bring along that faith
that just leaves me feeling great!

Since the first time that you showed up,
the critics've been so cruel!
They've said that you're a joke
and that Bon Jovi'll never rule!

Well, you proved that they were wrong,
and you keep on going strong!
And Cross Road in '94
came to give fans more and more!

I just wish that you could sing,
'til the world stop being mean!
I wish that you can bring along that faith
that just leaves me feeling great!

(solo)

And now that eighteen years are gone,
from the moment that you start!
You're songs keep being greater,
keep appealing for the heart!

And if you are just older,
I know you have no fear,
of being here forever,
'til the next 100 years...

I just wish that you can sing,
'til the world stop being mean!
I wish that you can bring along that faith
that just leaves me feeling great!

I just know that you will sing,
'til the world stop being mean!
I know that you can bring along that faith
that just leaves fans feeling great!"

Note: To anyone interested, try singing these lyrics, listening to August 7, 4:15! I guess they'll fit! :)

To finish, I just wanna tell Jon, "Thank you, for loving us"
